The purpose behind this punishing pedal schedule is raising £8,000 for charity, with Marie Curie, Willow Foundation and British Heart Foundation set to benefit.
One of the four taking part is Daniel Whitmore, a father-of-four and self-employed carpenter. Speaking to a reporter from Barnet Today, he stated that up until now the longest distance he has ever cycled is between London and Brighton – a journey he undertook two decades ago.
Whitmore quipped:
“I didn’t do any training for that one but I am training hard for this one because I’m 20 years older!”
Alongside Whitmore, the three other participants are Rod Costa, Son Sofocleous and Kelvin Downer, all of whom took part in the ride from London to Brighton in 2015, making £3,000 for charity.
Downer stated that the group had already begun its training schedule for the ride, devoting between two and three hours every week to cycling and then riding for three or four hours on the weekends.
Charity fundraisers of this kind can always use printers that create leaflets, to help them raise awareness among residents of Potters Bar.
This cycle trip will be getting underway on May 18.
