The printed vouchers are part of the Active Kids scheme from Sainsbury's supermarkets, which helps students get sports equipment for their schools.
Pupils from three schools in Potters Bar were given the wallets, which are in the same design as the familiar poster printing which can be seen at the local Sainsbury's. Kids from Oakmere Primary School, St. Giles Church of England Primary School, and Wroxham School all received wallets.
As part of last year's scheme, pupils at the schools managed to buy a host of items. With the vouchers offered to all shoppers in the store and handed to kids taking part, they managed to raise enough to buy footballs, hoops, skipping ropes and tennis rackets.
They also had enough for a range of equipment for the playground.
Extolling the benefits of the scheme, the head teacher of Oakmere School, Julie Lilly, explained:
“Joining Active Kids has made a massive difference to our teaching of the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.
“We’re hoping to collect even more vouchers this year and hope these wallets will encourage our parents to collect and donate.”
The children were presented with their own wallets by staff visiting the schools from the Potters Bar Sainsbury's.
