The annual Potters Bar Carnival is due to take place this weekend, with a programme that includes a wide range of activities, live music, fairground attractions, stalls and displays all in aid of good causes.
The highlight of the event is set to be the carnival parade, which this year is headed by four young VIPs. These are the winners of a Welwyn Hatfield Times competition and will be riding in a horse-drawn carriage. Starting from Canada Life car park, at 12:30pm, it will proceed down High Street, to Elm Court Youth and Community Centre arriving at around 1:45pm. Events such as this often use poster printing services to advertise to the community.
An exhibition of paintings by local school children, combined with a free children's workshop, is being held at Elm Court Gym with prizes awarded for the best artworks. Around 60 stalls, including handicrafts and tombolas, can be found on the nearby showgrounds where the activities are due to take place. These include a junior school football competition, a climbing wall, pony rides and a Punch and Judy show.
Live music from the Hertfordshire Show Band, rock band Shades of Midnight, Rhythmix, Angies Dancers. They will be joined by three local bands, which won the Rotary Club’s Young Musician competition. A wide variety of food and drinks, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
The Potters Bar Carnival is taking place on Sunday 9 June.
