A Chihuahua named Rocky was taken from outside a local supermarket in Orchard Parade at the beginning of September after its owner went inside and left the dog safely secured to a railing outside the shop. This has sparked fears that dog thefts are again becoming more commonplace in Potters Bar.
This theft comes in the wake of a series of warning Posters that were displayed in Parkfield Park after dogs had reportedly gone missing in this area over the summer. The Posters were printed and displayed around the park, warning dog owners to look out for their pets at all times.
While it may be scary for local pet owners to think their dogs may not be safe on the streets of Potters Bar, local residents are taking positive steps to avoid future dognappings. As well as poster printing, Potters Bar residents have also set up a Dog Watch scheme in the area that encourages local people to keep an eye out for anything suspicious in relation to pets.
Local police are also involved in investigating Rocky the Chihuahua's disappearance. A local police constable, Ross Paybody, spoke about this, saying:
“Rocky is a much-loved family pet and I would appeal to anyone who believes they may have seen him since Saturday to contact police."
Police are also using CCTV footage to aid their investigations.Get a Free Quote for Posters
