Council launches survey ahead of new health plan

Hertsmere Borough Council, the authority responsible for Potters Bar, Elstree and Borehamwood, has produced a poll that is intended to help form its new strategy for health and well-being.

Members of the public will be asked to complete the survey, with the answers used to help the council formulate a plan to improve health in the borough.

The study is being administered by Community Action Hertsmere, with locals to be asked what they think the council could do to help them attain a healthier way of life and what would make the borough a healthier place to live. Smoking is also mentioned, with a question asking residents what would enable them to either reduce or stop their habit.

The councillor responsible for the new health policy, Brenda Batten, said that the borough already has plenty of data on health issues in the area, with statistics on problems such as mental illness, diabetes, obesity, and self-harm. However, the survey is intended to provide a fuller picture that includes what residents want from the council and its partners.

A number of options have already been put forward to improve well-being in the borough, including cooking classes, smoking cessation help, physical activities, financial advice, and education and training. Potters Bar Print companies would be able to supply Posters and Flyers to help promote the various events.
