The group in question takes place within the Furzefield Leisure Centre in Potters Bar and the fundraiser saw the tots clad in superhero garb. Local people had agreed to sponsor them as they performed a number of challenges in a bid to generate funding for Tommy’s baby charity.
Those children involved in the event were aged between 0 and 13 months and were all wearing spandex, masks and capes, in the style of comic book superheroes. The aim behind the nationwide event was to secure thousands for the chosen charity, with all cash raised set to be used to finance the creation of four centres for research, which will look at the causes of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.
The woman in charge of the groups for Barnet and Oakwood, Elstree and Borehamwood and Potters Bar, Lisa Robson, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that:
“Over 150 parents attended across the week and together with their superhero tots raised over £800 for Tommy’s Charity, which funds research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage.”
Local charity fundraising events such as this one often use leaflet printers to help them get the word out to potential donors in the area.
