The Blacklight Fun Run lasts 5km and the focus is not on how fast participants can run, but on them enjoying a night of glowing UV neon fun with family and friends, according to the event’s organisers.
The luminous participants generally span a wide range of ages and fitness levels, with those taking part having to follow basic rules about their appearance during the event.
These include wearing a T-shirt coloured white and ending the run coated in neon glow powder provided at the Blacklight zones.
A Blacklight Run spokesman said:
“By the end, you will look like you fell into a Ghost Buster’s movie (minus the slime) and [be] covered with different Blacklight Run UV Neon Glow Powder. This is the first of its kind at night and is quickly sweeping the nation.”
The organisers will be able to turn to poster printing in Northampton to encourage local people to get involved, and everyone who enters receives T-Shirts, race bibs, luminous tattoos and free after-party admission.
