Inspired by the hit BBC television show Strictly Come Dancing, the event will be held in the Derngate and will feature a full complement of accoutrements from the show – including false eyelashes, fake tan and outrageous outfits.
Held every year in the town, the purpose behind Strictly Northampton is to allow local people to have some fun and raise some cash for charity at the same time. Furthermore, this year’s event is already enjoying strong ticket sales.
The local dance school Step by Step has again taken on the responsibility of putting together the show and the man who owns this Henry Street studio, Andrzej Mialkowski, was the recent recipient of a Ballroom and Latin dancing award.
Speaking to a reporter from the Northampton Chronicle, Mialkowski stated that:
“The couples will be dancing a jive, American smooth waltz and a group freestyle. The theme is the movies and we want to raise as much money as possible.”
The Teenage Cancer Trust is the charity set to benefit from the money raised via the event, which takes place on November 19. Fundraising events of this sort often use leaflet printing to help when it comes to advertising them locally.
