Northamptonshire Police is hoping that its new poster campaign will help it to recruit new members of the special constabulary from ethnic minorities in the region. The message on the Posters aims to communicate the fact that someone's background will not be an obstacle to them becoming a special constable. Special constables help support the main police force through a volunteer network.
Fay Tennet, who is the head of community safety for Northamptonshire police, spoke about the poster campaign, saying:
“We’re looking to appoint specials from all walks of life. No matter what your background is or what you do for your day job, if you’ve got the necessary skills and confidence to make a difference, you can be a special constable.
“A few hours each week is all that’s required. And in return, you can make a real difference to your community, learn new skills, meet new people and really develop as a person.”
