Poster helps with police nightclub appeal

A poster has helped to identify people that local police in Northampton wish to speak to in connection with an incident at a local nightclub.

Two students from London were killed during a crush of people at a nightclub in the town last year and the investigation is still ongoing. The police recently turned to the help of poster printing. Police in Northampton produced a number of Posters featuring CCTV images of the night of the incident and displayed these prominently around town in the hope that it would jog someone’s memory and prompt them to give vital information to the police.

Detective Inspector Louise Hemingway has been working on the case. She recently commented on the success of the poster appeal for witnesses, saying:

“As a result of the appeal for witnesses in October 2012 we have positively identified five of the 28 key witnesses in the poster. We have spoken with each of them directly and they have provided information which will assist the investigation. We would like to thank the media, universities, musicians and DJs on Twitter and members of the public for their support and help in publicising and responding to the appeal which has had a positive impact upon the progression of our investigation.”

Poster printing is often used to appeal for witnesses as high-level messages and clear images can be reproduced using full colour printing. Northampton police hope that this recent appeal will help them to solve the case once and for all.
