The Northampton Association of Youth Clubs is holding a basic youth work skills training course in mid-December.
The intention behind this short course is to provide participants with the necessary confidence and skills to enable them to work more effectively with young adults in local youth groups. It will offer useful tips and advice for both new and long-established volunteers working in the sector.
The course endeavours to facilitate the development of new and effective skills as well as achieving the full potential of those skill participants already have and are applying in the context of a youth club environment.
The topics covered on the course include communicating with young adults, planning and organising a session, setting up and running various activities such as crafts or games and formulating clear and correct boundaries inclusive of transparency in relationships. It will also help participants in other aspects of their lives as many of these skills are readily transferable to other careers.
The course will cost up to £25 and the trainer for the session is James Yates of the NAYC. Flyer Printing is a proven method of putting people in touch with local events happening in their area.
The Basic Youth Work Skills course will take place between 6:30pm and 9:30pm on Thursday 12 December at King's Park Conference Centre in Northampton.
