The Northampton-based institution won the national design contest, which was created for young architects. Pupils from the Weston Favell Academy pitched a concept that employed sustainable timber. The academy’s team worked on a student accommodation plan for the MOBIE Campus Design Challenge. Promotional Pens can be useful items for event organisers to have to hand.
Teesside University in Middlesbrough was the location for the event. Peter Williams is a curriculum director at the academy in Northampton. He focuses his efforts on the creative subjects. Williams told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo:
“The challenge was an amazing experience for our Year 7 students to envision architecture of the future. The project was so enjoyable, with our students passionately wanting to work at the end of the school day to learn beyond the classroom.”
George Clarke, a television architect and author, acted as the judge. He has starred in a Channel 4 programme called Restoration Man. Since then, he has appeared in George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. Particularly impressed by the standard of the designs on the day, he drew attention to the age of the children concerned.
