A girls’ football team in Northampton has launched a fundraising campaign after being offered the chance to travel to Malta and take part in series of friendly matches.
The manager of the Parklands Tigers under-16s team, Stuart Drage, has called on a number of Premier League clubs to help by sponsoring the team so the players can make the trip in June next year.
The team was first introduced in 2004, although the boys’ squad had been playing since 1985. The club will be playing in junior football for its last year but will continue to compete in the Northamptonshire Women’s and Girls’ Football League. For the last three years, the under-16s team has also won the Northamptonshire Women’s league cup.
The funds are required to pay for flights and in an attempt to gather enough money, the team will be holding some special events during the coming months. Although it may be tempting to produce Flyers and Posters in-house to advertise the events and call for sponsorship, the skills of a reputable Print company in Northampton could certainly be useful. With the right experience, eye-catching, impactful materials can be produced.
The first fundraising event, a Halloween fancy dress party, will be held this Saturday. The club is looking for any items which can be auctioned during the evening. The staff members have said, however, that they are holding out for some of the big Premier League clubs to provide signed shirts or balls.
