Officials have recommended that the application for the East Stand redevelopment – which will see the stadium’s seating capacity increased by more than 30% – is approved.
At present, the stadium seats 7,653. Once the work is complete, the East Stand would feature more than a dozen corporate Boxes and enough space for hundreds of corporate guests. It will also incorporate a gym and additional kiosks.
The Plans likewise include facilities for parking, improved disabled access and landscaping features, as well as a new bar that will also be available through the week as an exhibition room.
The redevelopment work is part of a project looking to revitalise the whole area, with applications for retail facilities, a hotel and homes likely in the near future.
A meeting to be held by the planning committee next Tuesday will see a decision made over the plans, which were made possible by loan of £12 million from Northampton Borough Council.
Cllr David Mackintosh, the council leader, said:
“This planning application represents an important step in the expansion of Sixfields Stadium.
“Our sports clubs are an important part of life in our town and a significant benefit to the local economy. We as an administration have always recognised how important they are and we remain absolutely committed to supporting them.”
For sports venues, one of the best ways to advertise new facilities is to organise banner printing, in Northampton or anywhere else in the East Midlands.Get a Free Quote for Boxes Get a Free Quote for Plans
