Nik Kershaw and his band, prior to embarking on a tour, are performing a show in Northampton in mid-July.
This solo singer-songwriter burst upon the UK pop scene in 1984. There followed a series of successful hit singles that included 'Wouldn't It Be Good', 'The Riddle' and his biggest hit, ' I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'.
Kershaw then stepped out of the spotlight to focus on songwriting, as well as record producing. He penned Chesney Hawkes's hit 'The One and Only’, going on to work with Elton John, Bonnie Tyler and Gary Barlow, while still releasing his own material
Recording his first album since 2012 at Abbey Road, which holds a host of memories for him, autumn 2020 saw the release of 'Oxymoron' on the back of the six-track EP, 'These Little Things' earlier in the summer.
In 2022, Kershaw, to the delight of his fans, announced that the 'Songs from the Shelf' series would have a digital release. 'Part 1' came out in May 2022 and 'Part 2’ in April 2023, with 'Part 3' yet to be announced.
