A teenager from Northampton has followed up her victory in a local beauty contest by bringing home the big prize at a nationwide pageant held recently.
Abbey-Anne Gyles won the Miss Northampton title for 2014 during the annual competition held in April, and this gave her the opportunity to enter the Miss Earth United Kingdom beauty pageant, which attracts entrants from around the country.
However, despite such competition, Abbey-Anne triumphed in two categories at the event – and the availability of banner printing from Northampton Print shops meant that friends and family were able to show their support for her throughout.
The Miss Earth United Kingdom contest takes place in Birmingham and has a £500 first prize. Abbey-Anne claimed this, but was also awarded the Miss Earth Teen Northamptonshire title.
Following the pageant, she stated that she felt both honoured and overwhelmed at winning two titles, and that she took seriously the responsibilities that come with winning. She commented:
“I have been very busy fundraising, campaigning and volunteering and will continue to do all of the above with both my titles.
“I would like to thank my family and friends for all of their support but mainly my sponsor Mohammed from the Royal and Bengal Indian Restaurant for his continued support before and during the competition.”
She will now spend the upcoming year as the Miss Earth representative.Get a Free Quote for Print
