A new production of the genre-defining Dial M for Murder is on tour and will stop over in Northampton in mid-January.
Based on the play written by Frederick Knott, later developed into a film by Alfred Hitchcock, it tells the story of Tony Wendice a charming but manipulative former tennis professional. Wendice chooses to give up his hopes and dreams, for wife Margot, whom he subsequently learns has been having an affair. It is then that his thoughts turn vengeful and towards committing the "perfect crime."
The original suspense thriller was made famous thanks to Hitchcock's iconic 1950s film, and this is the version most people are most familiar with. This new production, a modernised retelling, stars Tom Chambers and Samantha Womack and dramatically engages the audience. It is a roller coaster of twists and turns that should appeal to a broad spectrum of people of all ages who enjoy a good murder mystery.
Ticket prices start from £11 and there is a £3 transaction charge for bookings of £15 and over. Print shops are a particularly useful resource when it comes to publicising and promoting theatrical events such as this one.
Dial M for Murder will begin at 7:30 pm every day from Monday, January 11 to Saturday, January 16 at the Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton. There will also be 2:30 pm matinee shows on the Wednesday and Saturday.
