The Cycle CoNNECt scheme was launched in July and enables locals to rent bikes placed at hubs around Northampton, making it similar to the policy implemented by Johnson in London.
It has been a roaring success from the start, with the county council reporting that 152 people made use of the service in its first week alone, and there has been no drop in enthusiasm since, with the hub at Becket’s Park the most frequently used. As with other community services, the council can rely on the full colour printing provided by Northampton Print companies for eye-catching Posters to promote it.
However, as the councillor in charge of the scheme, Michael Clarke, told the local press, other factors have also helped the launch:
“No doubt the glorious summer weather we’ve been enjoying has helped encourage people to take part in the scheme but I’m confident that once people get a taste for how easy and convenient Cycle CoNNECt is they will continue to use it.”
Sunday and Wednesday have been the biggest for the service, in terms of rental numbers and time. A bicycle hire is £1 an hour, with a £5 maximum cost per day.Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Print
