Number Day is organised by charity the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and will be held in secondary, primary and nursery schools across Epsom and the borough. It is an annual occasion that doubles as a maths engagement project and a way of bringing in important money for the charity.
The former television presenter and fan of maths Johnny Ball is among those who are backing the event. According to In Your Area, he stated that:
“The NSPCC’s Number Day is a great way for all children and schools to celebrate the joy of learning mathematics while supporting such a great cause.”
Schools that sign up for the 2023 event will be able to get activities sent to them as free downloads that fit in with the national curriculum and that are designed to brighten maths teaching. Most schools will likely combine these with traditional printed materials, and there are Print shops in Epsom that can help them with that.
Further ideas for games and activities related to maths are available on the official website of the NSPCC for schools that are taking part.
Number Day is held on 3rd February.
