The hugely successful chain is intending to set up shop within the town’s main retail hub, the Ashley Centre. The official announcement that Primark will be moving into an empty unit in this centre came through CBRE Investment Management. It will be based in a unit that measures 44,000 sq ft and that was previously occupied by another fashion outlet, House of Fraser.
It will be welcome news for the owners of the centre, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive revamp. This work is costing £7 million to complete and is due to be concluded within the next few weeks.
When Primark moves into its new base, it will have the choice of using promotional products supplied by Epsom shops to help it with advertising in the town.
Philippa Nibbs from Primark told the Surrey Comet:
“As we continue to invest in the UK high street, we are delighted to announce our new store in Epsom that will open next year."
CBRE IM Retail Asset Management Head Louisa Butters stated that it represented a watershed moment for the centre.
The new Primark store is scheduled to launch early in 2025.
