New flats to be built in Epsom

A number of brand new flats are to be built at a site alongside Epsom Railway Station, following the decision by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to approve the Plans.

This development will consist of 36 flats that will be divided between two blocks. The first will be situated on the edge of Kiln Lane and East Street and be made up of 16 flats, while the remaining 20 will be within a second block at the meeting point of Station Approach and West Street.

Although permission has been granted for the development, there may be a review to see whether a greater percentage of affordable homes can be included. At the moment, only two of the flats have been earmarked as affordable properties.

One of the blocks will have five storeys, while the other will be six storeys. The developer behind the scheme pointed out that it would lead to the creation of a number of jobs while building takes place and would also be beneficial for companies in the area, which is in the centre of town.

Those businesses will be able to make use of Epsom shops that offer advertising flyer printing if they want to take advantage of the arrival of new residents in the area by promoting their products and services.

A start date for building has still to be announced.
