Leisure centre in Epsom to fit new solar panels

A leisure centre in Epsom has had a number of new solar panels fitted to its roof, with the aim of reducing its day-to-day energy costs.

The Rainbow Leisure Centre is situated on East Street in Epsom, and is a popular amenity among local families. The sheer number of people who use the centre is why its energy costs are so high and what has motivated the move to install these panels. A total of 390 have been fitted onto the roof, which is expected to make a big difference.

They are expected to generate around 140,000 kWh of electricity, which would meet a fifth of the centre’s needs. In turn, it would cut the annual electricity bill by as much as £44,000 and carbon emissions by 29 tonnes.

Talking to a local source after the panels were installed, Liz Frost from the council said that:
“This is an exciting development that continues to support our community.”

She went on to add that the centre would now help with the environment as well as helping people to stay healthy.

Brochure printing by Epsom shops can sometimes be useful to local amenities like leisure centres. This is because it can supply them with Brochures outlining what they have to offer.

The financing for the solar panels was provided by the Sport England Swimming Pool Support Fund.
