Funnyman Omid Djalili coming to Epsom

One of the most popular and successful standup comedians in the UK is set to come to Epsom towards the end of the month, to perform an intimate gig in a pub.

Omid Djalili has been a fixture on the British comedy scene for decades, both as a live performer and as a guest on comedy panel shows. He has also had a number of high-profile acting roles, in films such as Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and television sitcoms like Black Books. However, later this month, he will be visiting Epsom to play a gig in the Station Pub.

This venue is fast becoming a firm favourite of comedians looking to test their latest sets, with Djalili’s booking following on from shows by Harry Hill, Romesh Ranganathan and Josh Widdicombe in the past couple of months. Flyer printing services in the local area are often used to advertise events of this kind.

Speaking to Surrey Live, the Station’s manager Steve Murphy stated that the job of booking the comedians for live shows was done by an outside organisation, with the pub itself being the ideal place for comics to explore new material, before going on to add that:

“On average, rooms are between 75 and 100 people, and comedians do it to gauge joke reactions.”

Djalili will be playing in Epsom on October 21.
