New research looking into the best and most prosperous areas to live in the UK sees Epsom and Ewell ranked among the top five places.
This list is called the UK Prosperity Index and is put together by the Legatum Institute. The research involves looking at a range of different factors to determine where each part of the country should be ranked on it, including the standard of living conditions, the quality of the natural environment, the overall health of residents, and levels of security and safety. The results saw Epsom and Ewell come in at number four.
This ranking was in large part down to how well the area scored in terms of living conditions and standards of governance. In the first of these categories, Epsom was rated the third best overall in the country, while in the latter one it came in second place.
The standard of the amenities available in a town or city can also be a factor in its prosperity, and Epsom benefits from a range of different retail outlets, including Print shops that produce high-quality products.
Other Surrey boroughs also ranked highly on the index, with Elmbridge one place above Epsom and Ewell in third position. Waverley was ranked the second most prosperous, Woking finished in fifth position, Surrey Heath was ninth ranked, and Guildford came tenth.
