A pawnbroker based in Epsom has landed a starring role in a popular television series, featuring as a specialist expert in the show ‘Bling’, presented by Gok Wan.
John Freeze is a pawnbroker who deals exclusively with vintage items, and he runs the Prestige Watches and Diamonds shop situated on High Street in Epsom. It is that particular area of expertise that led him to his new role on television, where he features as one of the experts standing behind the counters during the hit show that screens every weekday until November 5.
Bling is presented by Gok Wan, who made a name for himself as a TV fashion advisor, but the focus in his new show is on jewellery. The experts – including John – assist the contestants in finding good deals.
Speaking to the Surrey Comet, the 53-year-old said:
“Clients come in and try and sell their items to me to raise funds. They can have items remade, repaired or recycled and they may have old fashioned items that don’t really fit today’s trends.”

Freeze landed his additional television work after people from ITV contacted him about it. He has also made appearances on another show on the channel called Million Pound Pawn.
