DebtRegister was founded by Gary Brown, and it was also he who came up with this tech distribution idea. The company is working alongside Women of Fintech, a non-profit organisation, on the scheme. It involves the groups collecting laptop computers and other tech from firms in the Epsom area that are willing to donate to a good cause, before cleaning them and passing them on to families that need them.
Speaking to In Your Area about his idea, Brown stated that his own childhood meant that he often had to “go without”, so he wanted to help to those in a similar position now. He said:
“I saw the pile of old laptops I had in my office, unused only due to recent upgrades and thought there must be other companies out there with the same, so I contacted Women of Fintech to find out if we could create a campaign.”
Local firms such as this sometimes opt to get the Business Cards they need printed for them by shops based in the same area.
Anyone who is interested in donating tech devices to this campaign can make contact with those running it by emailing info@diversifyme.co.uk..
