David Lock, a commercial director at Millbrook Healthcare, has said:
“We are delighted to have this opportunity to provide such a vital service to local people and are looking forward to building strong relationships with everyone who uses and will use our service.”
The service has always used trained personnel to ensure that the wheelchairs address the particular requirements of individual patients. It has also performed repairs at a variety of sites. These core elements of the service will be preserved, and efforts have been made to make sure that the transition between healthcare providers proceeds as smoothly as possible.
Currently, wheelchairs are given to patients on the basis of a referral from qualified health professionals. When Millbrook Healthcare takes over the service, this will not change. Bosses may wish to use business card printing in the Hedge End area near Southampton, in order to help GPs and others make the necessary referrals.
When it comes to location, Millbrook Healthcare has committed to major bases in Portsmouth and Southampton. In addition, it has been reported that it intends to use a range of alternative clinic sites, which will be located in various hospitals around Hampshire.
