Folk dance class comes to Eastleigh

A community centre sited in Eastleigh is holding a workshop dedicated to social folk dancing that features live music.

Residents of Eastleigh with a passion for music and dance can participate in an upcoming event. A spring workshop is being held in Chandler’s Ford for balfolk dancing. Balfolk is a European tradition involving social folk dancing using simple and easy-to-learn steps and has earned popularity in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Civic hubs holding courses, classes and workshops sometimes trust brochure printing services for eye-catching Booklets and pamphlets that advertise to the community and entice them to get involved.

The afternoon event in Eastleigh will feature live music to dance to from four different balfolk bands that play a wide range of traditional instruments like accordions, fiddles, whistles and mouth organs. The acts confirmed to perform include Shivelight, Confluence, Sawney White Bird and Helen Gentile & Lewis Wood.

Members of the bands will teach attendees several traditional European dances like hanter dro, mazurka, slangpolska and bourree and no experience is required to participate, just comfortable shoes.

The workshop will now run at The Hilt on Sunday, March 8. The event begins at 2.45 pm and ends at 8 pm and the community centre is based on Hiltingbury Road in Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh. The in-person workshop is suitable for all ages and admission is £20 per person.
