Southampton to enjoy hip-hop sounds
An acclaimed American hip-hop group are set to play Southampton in Spring.
Fans of the genre from Botley Green, Hedge End and other areas around Southampton will soon get the opportunity to see De La Soul in concert as they take the stage at the renowned Engine Rooms. Venues hosting live music acts will often use specialist poster printing services to produce eye-catching displays advertising gigs and concerts.
Best known for their quirky lyrics and eclectic sampling, De La Soul formed in New York’s Amityville in 1988. Members Maseo, Trugoy and Posdnuos mixed alternative hip-hop with jazz-rap in high school before catching the attention of industry producer Prince Paul with their “Plug Tunin” demo tape. Their subsequent debut album dubbed 3 Feet High and Rising, is now regarded as masterpiece of the hip hop genre.
In 2006 De la Soul were awarded a Grammy for the single “Feel Good”, a collaboration with the band Gorillaz.
De La Soul devotees attending the upcoming show in Southampton this spring will get a chance to hear classic tracks from the hip-hop trio which could include “The Magic Number”, “Me Myself and I”, “All Good”, “Ring Ring Ring”, and “Eye Know”.
De La Soul will now play the Engine Rooms at West Quay Road Industrial Estate, on West Quay Road in Southampton on Friday, March 18 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
