Southampton school recognised for efforts

A school based in Southampton has been applauded for its work amidst the recent pandemic.

King Edward VI School has recently become a vaccine training centre and has received acclaim for its efforts. Last year, the school in Southampton’s Shirley provided support to healthcare operations around the area in the UK’s first lockdown. The design and technology department used its skills and facilities to create personal protective equipment and surgical scrubs for both the Hedge End Medical Centre and the Southampton Children’s Hospital.

Southampton MP Royston Smith commented to the Daily Echo:

"It's good to see schools and other institutions stepping up when we all need to come together to defeat a common enemy. We're very grateful to have the school and have any help they can offer."

Now, as a centre for vaccine training in Southampton, the school is once more helping in the battle against COVID-19 as it offers its facilities to St John Ambulance.

The 10-week programme onsite will see approximately 2,000 volunteers trained to correctly conduct vaccinations on people around Southampton and its surrounding areas. Organisers of programmes like this can rely on professional Print shops when creating literature to reach the public.

The vaccination training service is only able to operate at weekends, but it is now equipping around 100 people per day with the skills they need to carry out the procedure.
