Premises obtained for cancer charity shop

After a period of uncertainty, Romsey Cancer Support Centre has acquired premises for a charity shop that will raise money for Jane Scarth House.

The facility is to be called Jane’s and will replace Peppercorns Natural Foods on Latimer Street, Southampton.

It has been reported that Wessex Cancer Trust has reduced funding for the support centre in order to concentrate its services in large urban settlements. As a result, the shop is required to fill the gap and the chairperson of the charity, Mike Gratton, has named the date for its opening.

Jane’s is set to launch on the first day of December. Its backers may opt to use banner printing in Southampton (Hedge End) if they want to maximise the impact of the occasion. There has already been an appeal made to the public with regard to donations for the shop.

Jane Scarth House apparently costs in the region of £60,000 per annum to run. By the last day of October, it seems that staff will be obliged to vacate their current building. Therefore, the charity is under pressure to find appropriate accommodation.

Stacey Sherman, who is the daughter of Jane Scarth, has told The Romsey Advertiser that:
“This is lovely news. My mum was a beautiful lady and fantastic mother who myself and my family miss so much.”
