New ski route available from Southampton Airport

Low-cost regional airline Flybe has started offering flights from Southampton to Grenoble as part of its new weekly ski route.

Grenoble, a city in the south of France that is popular with ski enthusiasts due to its proximity to the Alps, offers holidaymakers easy access to some of the biggest skiing resorts in the region.

One of the most popular locations near Grenoble is La Grave, where the famous geographer and explorer Nicolas de Nicolay was born.

According to the Southern Daily Echo, the chief commercial officer of Flybe, Paul Simmons, said ahead of the service’s launch date that the company was looking forward to welcoming the first travellers, and hoped that the passengers would enjoy being able directly to some of Europe’s chief ski resorts from Southampton Airport.

The airport’s managing director, Dave Lees, said that the current skiing season is the biggest so far, and with Flybe now providing a service to Grenoble, people have easy access to the slopes of south-eastern France.

The flight operator has recently introduced a number of new services, including weekly flights to Salzburg, Austria’s fourth largest city.

Airlines usually find themselves competing with other companies providing flights to different locations abroad, and most choose to outsource to professional brochure printers in Southampton to set themselves apart and effectively advertise what they have to offer.

As well as Grenoble, Flybe also offers a weekly ski route to its neighbouring city, Chambery, along with daily flights to Geneva, the second most populous city in Switzerland.
