The construction project, managed by the Kier Group, is already underway with a site for the new educational facility being prepared at Woodhouse Lane, with the first school buildings due to be erected later this year.
The secondary school, which will be called Deer Park School, is designed to fulfil the high demand for placement, supplying much needed relief to the area in both Botley and Hedge End. According to Councillor Roz Chad, the Executive Member for Education and skills of Hampshire County Council, the school will be close by and well equipped with up-to-date facilities. She added:
“With outline planning permission recently granted for a new sustainable community at Uplands Farm, the secondary school design also creates the capacity for projected future increases in pupil numbers.”
Those managing public projects can make use of printing services to create literature for the local people in the area, informing them of future services.
In support of the school opening, highway access work will also be conducted at the location. This work will include improved cycle and pedestrian links for the community and is expected to start towards the end of next year.
The completion date for Deer Park School is currently set for September 2021.
