Hedge End customers to return to M&S caf

Marks & Spencer has now reopened many of its cafes, including the Hedge End, Southampton branch on Tollbar Way, with new protective measures put in place.

The reopening of 118 different outlets across the United Kingdom and Ireland arrives as the government eases restrictions enforced during the COVID-19 outbreak. To keep customers and staff safe onsite, newly devised safety measures have now been established.

On arrival, customers will be met by M&S staff who will manage entrance to and exit from the café through an orderly queuing system. Hand sanitiser stations are installed close to the entrance for customer use.

A one-way system has been set up within the café to limit person-to-person contact with signage displayed reminding customers of social distancing rules. Enterprises reopening can take advantage of professional print shops to create signs showing important safety information to members of the public.

Other safety features inside include Perspex screens at till points and the option to make contactless payments. Staff will wash their hands at 30-minute intervals and immediately after receiving cash payments.

All tables have been placed one metre apart from each other and where possible the two-metre social distancing rule will be encouraged. Those visiting will still be able to enjoy the same select range of roasted coffees and cream teas previously available before lockdown.
