Hedge End area to hear West Country sounds

A famous British band known for their comedic country songs are set to play Southampton this winter.

As part of their upcoming Christmas tour, Somerset’s Scrumpy and Western band, The Wurzels will be sailing into Southampton for a single-night show. As a result, fans from Botley Green to Hedge End will be able to enjoy a wide range of classic tracks from the group first founded by Adge Cutler back in 1966.

The Wurzels, who take their name from a crop called Mangelwurzel grown to feed farm animals, will take to the stage at the celebrated Engine Rooms, this December. Venues hosting festive performances often look to expert banner printing services to produce seasonal signage for their upcoming events.

The group has enjoyed a popular following and chart success over the course of their career. They took and held the number one spot for two weeks in the UK’s singles chart in 1976 with "The Combine Harvester" which was a re-work of the original song by Melanie "Brand New Key". The band’s follow up “I Am a Cider Drinker” also placed highly, reaching number three in the charts.

The Wurzels will play the Engine Rooms located at West Quay Road Industrial Estate on West Quay Road in Southampton on Friday, December 16. The gig will begin at 7.30 pm and finish at 11.30 pm.
