Hampshire volunteers recognised at ceremony

The charitable work of Revitalise volunteers has been honoured at a ceremony in Hampshire.

Eight volunteers have been praised for their efforts in charity shops. Revitalise has a chain of 13 outlets in and around Southampton, with one of the stores being located in Hedge End. The shops are a significant source of income for a charity that delivers respite to carers and people affected by disabilities. Newsletter printing from Southampton Hedge End could be used to record details of the future achievements of Revitalise.

Andrew Pallister, head for retail at the organisation, said:

“Huge congratulations to each of our wonderful volunteers, you are all incredibly deserving of your awards. For so many years you have given your time and dedication to our charity, and it’s only right that we return our gratitude by celebrating your commitment.”

Councillor Desmond Scott, the mayor for Eastleigh, presented awards to the volunteers in question. The event was hosted in Netley Waterside House. Councillor Scott, who was in the company of his wife, complimented the recipients of the awards on their generosity.

Ricky Smith, one of those who picked up an award, became a volunteer after being afflicted by a stroke. His health has limited his capacity for work, but he has volunteered for a total of six years. He pointed out that volunteering is positive in terms of well-being. Furthermore, he underlined that it is great from a social perspective.
