Budding photographers given the chance to shine in Hedge End

Residents of Hedge End, which is near Southampton, are being asked to get involved with the production of the council’s traditional calendar by submitting photographs to be used for each month.

The theme for the 2014 is 'What Hedge End means to me' and entrants are encouraged to express this with some innovative imagery of their favourite locations.

The council is hoping the budding photographers will capture the best parts of Hedge End on film and submit them as part of the contest, which will be judged later this year. The winning photographs will be featured in the glossy calendar which goes on sale around the town later this year.

The end-product will be produced to a high specification using full colour printing. Calendars and other Promotional Products are often created with the help of a professional printing company in Southampton. It is hoped that with a higher standard of finish, more Copies will be sold.

All profits made from the final product will be spent on events and initiatives within the Hedge End community. For example, the town’s annual Christmas lighting display is often funded with the proceeds from such sales.

The closing date for entries to the calendar photography competition is Friday 23rd August. Entries are encouraged from all ages and those with all levels of ability. Both group and individual submissions are welcomed. Entries can be submitted directly to the town council and full details can be found on the council website.
