Volunteers to share in Chesterfield Marathon profits

Those organising the Chesterfield and Derbyshire Marathon, which is being sponsored by PK Group, have stated that money raised as a result of it will be shared with volunteers.

This is due to the Volunteer Share Scheme, through which profit ‘shares’ can be collected by those organisations involved, on a one share for each volunteer basis.

After the final total raised by the marathon has been totted up, 25 percent will be divided between those organisations, with the amount given to each depending on how many of their volunteers have created ‘shares’.

Aside from this quarter, the majority of the money raised through this year’s Chesterfield Marathon, which is being held on 20th September, is going to local charity – and event organiser – Kids’n’Cancer UK.

The charity will have the option of calling on companies that can provide flyer printing in Chesterfield, if it wants to use promotional Flyers to attract more entrants and volunteers.

Main event organiser and Kids’n’Cancer UK co-founder, Mike Hyman, stated that:
“Volunteering at an event of this scale is extremely rewarding and is a fantastic way for people to get involved who want to show their support but are not actually taking part in the race itself.”

Races will include a team relay, fun run and half marathon, while volunteers will be responsible for duties like first aid provision and manning refreshment stalls.
