The Winding Wheel Theatre was built exactly a century ago and its birthday will be marked with a month of celebrations. These will begin with the Centenary Gala Concert, which will see nine theatre schools from throughout Chesterfield take to its stage for performances. The host of this event will be Tony Rudd, an impressionist who featured on Britain’s Got Talent, while comedian Bernie Clifton will also appear.
Following that, a series of film screenings will be shown at the theatre for an event called A Century of Cinema. These will include movies from each decade of that period, including the likes of The Wizard of Oz, Metropolis and The Godfather.
The anniversary will also be marked with an exhibition telling the story of the theatre and guided tours. Poster printing from Chesterfield shops is one way that special events of this sort can be advertised.
Kate Sarvent from the borough council told Chesterfield News that:
“The Winding Wheel Theatre has a rich history in our town and residents of all ages will have fantastic memories of performances they have seen at the venue over the years.”
These events will take place throughout September, starting on 10th.
