The town’s Proact Stadium was awarded the very first Conference Venue of the Year prize, during the Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards ceremony, which took place in Chesterfield College.
This stadium also serves as Chesterfield FC’s home ground and it saw off some impressive competitors, including the Casa Hotel and Peak Edge Hotel, with a public vote determining the winner.
Diane Shirt, who works in the stadium’s banqueting and conference department, told the Star that everyone connected with it was delighted to win the inaugural award:
“It is a fantastic achievement, which is just reward for the hard work and dedication shown by all the staff. Everyone works hard to ensure that guests are looked after when they come to the stadium and we receive some excellent feedback.”

Its events manager, Paul Watts, stated that one of the best things about winning this particular award was that the votes had come from those who actually use the stadium, providing evidence that the hospitality and facilities were appreciated.
