Rachel Melland and her siblings Becky, Hannah and Helen will be joining the Sparkle Night Walk. This is held each year to raise money for the Ashgate Hospice. It was at this facility that Keith, their father, was looked after towards the end of his life, and now they are keen to show their gratitude.
It will be the first Sparkle Night Walk that they have entered, and speaking to the Buxton Advertiser, Melland stated that she and her sisters had been very impressed by the care that their father got at the hospice. She then went on to add:
“Ashgate’s care relies so much on fundraising, and we want to do as much as we can to support Ashgate as it made our family feel as though we were at home from the moment we arrived.”

Based on Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, the hospice has to find £7 million through fundraising each year, and the Sparkle Night Walk is a key part of that.
The 2022 event will take place on 9th July.
