Popular comedy musical to play in Chesterfield

A comedy musical that is set during the miner’s strike of the mid-1980s will be coming to Chesterfield at the end of the month, as part of the 40-year anniversary of the events.

This show is called ‘We’re Not Going Back’ and it is produced by Unite the Union and Red Ladder Theatre Company. It is being billed as a mix of comic moments and songs that pack a punch.

The story looks at the strike that took place during the winter of 1984/85, but focuses on a female viewpoint. It is told from the perspective of three sisters.

The writer of the play is Boff Whalley, and one of the many surprising things about it is the complete absence of miners. Instead, it tells the tale of the three women living in a northern town who launch a campaign called ‘Women Against Pit Closures.’

It was first performed live during the spring and proved to be a sell-out success across the country. Now, it is returning in a slightly revised form for a further tour. The venue for the performance in Chesterfield will be The Winding Wheel Theatre.

Graphic Design Services in the local area can help venues when it comes to their upcoming shows by creating promotional Posters that grab the attention of the public.

This show will be in Chesterfield on Wednesday, 23 October.
