Local dance enthusiast to enjoy world premiere

A teenage dancer who hails from Chesterfield, and won a place at the National Youth Dance Company, is now set to show off her skills in the world premiere of a new piece.

Olivia Doyle is aged 18 and comes from the Brampton area in west Chesterfield. She was chosen alongside 29 other UK dancers for this year’s NYDC intake, from the 500 who applied.

She will now take to the stage with them to perform the global premiere of the latest piece by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, a noted choreographer.

This work is entitled Frame(d) and the debut performance will take place in London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre, before it is taken on tour around the rest of the country.

Speaking to local reporters, Olivia stated:

“I was relieved to be selected because I didn’t know how my future might pan out.

“I went to the audition expecting it to be just an experience and then I got the news and I just couldn’t believe it. I was really excited.”

Should her friends and family wish to show their pride in her achievements, they can always make use of banner printing in Chesterfield (Brampton) to help them do so.

The Chesterfield College photography student and her fellow dancers have spent three weeks in training, assisted by Cherkaoui, with the premiere performance scheduled for Friday, 10th April.
