This building is situated in Malkin Street and has not been in use since 2014, when the hotel closed its doors. Now it is regarded by many of those living in the town as a blight on the landscape and Plans to knock it down have been in process for some time. According to a spokesperson for the council, much of the building’s interior has already undergone demolition.
This spokesperson went on to tell the Derbyshire Times that:
“An outline planning application for the future of the site has been submitted. A further detailed proposal will be made in the future.”
Hotels located within the city often look to brochure printing shops in Chesterfield to supply them with high quality Brochures that show off their various amenities.
The owner of the building, Prestige Hotels Ltd, has submitted this initial application. It hopes to replace it with two brand new buildings of four and six storeys. One of these is set to be a new hotel, while the other would serve as office space. Restaurants, shopping units, housing and event spaces may also be included.
The demolition of the main building is scheduled to take place early in 2022.
