Distribution firm to create jobs in Chesterfield

Around 400 new jobs are likely to be made available for residents of Chesterfield, following the decision by a distribution company to set up shop in the area’s Markham Vale business park.

Great Bear Distribution will launch there in the spring of next year within a custom-built warehouse facility, and will provide the largest number of fresh employment opportunities of any firm at the site.

The Markham Vale business park is at the heart of the regeneration being carried out by Derbyshire County Council, and its location ensures it has a motorway junction (the 29A) of its own, while also straddling the M1.

Based in Chester, Great Bear Distribution was formed 20 years ago and now operates 30 different sites around the UK, with a client list that includes the likes of Unilever, BMW and Sainsbury’s.

Its chief executive, Glenn Lindfield, stated that moving into the business park represented the right strategy for the company, adding:

“The site is exactly what we’ve been looking for, with tailor-made facilities in a prime location, providing easy access to our customers and other bases across the UK.”

There are places offering essential supplies like business Stationery printing in Chesterfield that can also be a real help to new firms setting up there.

Great Bear will be based at a site adjacent to the Environment Centre, with Henry Boot Developments handling the building process.
