Date for charity walk in Chesterfield confirmed

The official date for the 2021 return of an annual charity walk through Chesterfield has been confirmed, after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of it last year.

The Sparkle Night Walk is a hugely popular event in the town that aims to raise money on behalf of Ashgate Hospicecare. It sees people get together with friends or family to take part in a 10-kilometre walk from one end of Chesterfield to the other, while having a laugh.

This time, Ashgate Hospicecare is planning to hold the event later in the year, so that it can be sure of the safety of everyone taking part. The 2021 event will follow the rules of social distancing to further guarantee the health of participants.

Flyer printing supplied by shops in Chesterfield can be a handy way of promoting local charity events like this, and for informing people of the safety rules that must be followed.

Speaking to the Derbyshire Times, the hospice’s Fundraising Manager, Carl Jones, said:

“We are really looking forward to welcoming back our supporters and seeing some familiar faces, as well as those new supporters taking part for the first time.”

This year’s walk will begin at the home of Chesterfield FC and will see participants start 15 minutes apart from each other. The 2021 Sparkle Night Walk will be held on 25th September, instead of in July, and it will start at 8pm.
