Chesterfield to host medieval-themed event

Chesterfield will be going back centuries in time towards the end of the month, with the confirmation that the hugely popular Medieval Fun Day is returning to town.

Chesterfield Borough Council puts this event together, and it takes place right in the heart of the town. As with previous years, there will be re-enactment societies putting on displays of medieval-era battles, led by the Thomas Stanley Retinue. This group will based at the Crooked Spire and will be teaching people about how medieval knights lived before marching to Market Place clad in chain mail.

This year’s event will also see the return of the dragon that fought a knight in one of the high points of the fun day three years ago. Coupled with market stalls and a fun fair, it will make for an ideal day out for local families.

Poster printing by Chesterfield shops is one way that summer events like this one can be promoted within the town.

Speaking to Chesterfield News, Ian Waller from the council said:

“It’s fantastic that we can finally bring this event back this year; it’s a fun day out for the whole family and a great opportunity to learn about our town’s medieval past.”

The 2022 event is also set to see the Medieval Maniax perform a themed magic show. It will take place on 26th July.
