Chesterfield to host international football match

The home stadium of Chesterfield Football Club is scheduled to play host to international football later this year, in the form of an Under 19 European Championships qualifier.

The European Championship trophy was won by the England Under 19 men’s team last time the tournament occurred, and they will be aiming to retain it when the tournament takes place again during the summer. However, to do this, they’ll have to get through three tough qualifying matches against Hungary, Iceland and Turkey. The Technique Stadium in Chesterfield will be serving as the venue for the Turkey match.

The other two games will be played at the home grounds of Walsall and Rotherham United. The section that England are currently in is called an elite round group, following their success in an earlier qualifying round section that featured Georgia, Montenegro and Denmark.

When the Turkey fixture comes to Chesterfield, it will be the latest in a string of international games played at the Technique Stadium since it was opened 13 years ago. Printing services in Chesterfield can always help with the provision of tickets and programmes for these games.

The matches that have been played at the stadium include both men’s and women’s England games within the Under 16 to Under 21 age ranges. It has also been used for tournaments like the UEFA Women’s Under 17 Championship.

This match will take place on Friday, March 28.
