Chesterfield store gets new start

A new store offering outdoor supplies has recently opened in Chesterfield town centre, giving the unit that was once home to a branch of Yeomans a new lease of life.

This latest addition to the town’s high street is called Peakland Outdoors and is located on Beetwell Street. The man behind the store is Roger Milner, a former Yeomans employee of 30 years. It stocks a range of equipment for camping and walking, from manufacturers such as Merrell, Hi-Tec and Regatta.

In addition to this, ex-army clothes, shooting and fishing supplies can also be purchased from the store. Milner, who lives in Hollingwood, told the Derbyshire Times:

“It’s great to be able to breathe new life into this building. I’ve been in this trade all my life and I’m excited about the future. I’m dedicated to providing top quality customer service. You certainly can’t get that online.”

Milner, who is 47 years old, started working for Yeomans when he finished school, being employed by the company in several different positions during that time – including area manager, warehouse manager and shop manager. Peter, the son of Yeomans founder Walter Yeomans, will assist him in the grand opening of Peakland Outdoors on 11th March.

It will be able to rely on places offering catalogue printing to help showcase the different products it sells.
