The annual festive pantomime in Chesterfield will feature one of its biggest names to date this year with the news that a television star has been lined up to appear in it.
Jamie Christian-Johal has become a household name thanks to the hit television series Gladiators. This BBC revival of the 1990s format has become a staple of Saturday night and made stars out of its performers. Christian-Johal appears on the show under the name Giant, which means that his pantomime role will feel distinctly familiar. He will play the giant in a production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
He is certainly well-suited to the part, as he is well over six feet in height. Before moving into television, he was a professional bodybuilder in the IFBB Pro League. He has made appearances in other shows, including Celebrity the Weakest Link, Blue Peter and This Morning.

The venue for this Christmas pantomime will be the Winding Wheel Theatre and it will also star comedian Patrick Monahan. He has given successful performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
